Experience Nature

Being a modern country, one would think that there might not be lots of activities available for nature lovers while in the city. However, there is a reason why Singapore was also referred to as a “garden city”. This country is literally packed with nature parks, reserves and gardens.

For families who enjoy flora and fauna, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, The Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom, and MacRitchie Reservoir are the places that could be visited.

The places that top the list, however, are:

Jurong Bird Park houses over six hundred bird species of different colours and sizes. Kids would definitely enjoy feeding the birds and watching the park’s famous bird shows. Jurong also has regions highlighting the birds’ natural habitat: the ‘Parrot Paradise’, ‘Pelican Cove’, ‘Penguin Exhibit’, etc.

Underwater World is for families who would like to experience the world beneath the sea. Situated in Sentosa Island, this attraction is famous for its 83 meter long tunnel featuring stingrays, sharks and varieties of fishes. For the brave, the ‘Dive Adventure’ is something to tryout.

Singapore Zoo is place where families can spend the whole day doing various things like watching animal shows, bathing with elephants and visiting the animal exhibits. For the kids, the newly opened ‘KidzWorld’ is worth checking out.

Night Safari features the experience of watching animals feed on their prey at night via a special light made to illuminate the animals. The Night Safari has over a thousand animals that are divided into eight geographic regions. Other activities include walking trails like the ‘Fishing Cat Trail’ and ‘Leopard Trail’, etc.

Enjoy the Themed Parks

Kids and kids at heart would definitely enjoy the range of theme parks that Singapore has to offer its visitors. The recently opened Universal Studios in Sentosa Island is just one good example why families are welcome in this modern city.

Worth visiting are the Singapore Discovery Centre, Forest Adventure, Snow City and Science Centre Singapore.

The ones that topped the list are:

Universal Studios is situated at the beautiful Sentosa Island and part of Resorts World Sentosa. The Universal Studios houses 24 attractions with 18 of which are originally made just for its Singapore branch. The 20-hectare theme park consist of seven zones such as ‘Sci-fi City’, ‘New York’, ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Far Far Away’ to name a few.

Snow City on the other hand is a snow centre, the first in the country. The kids and their parents can try skiing, snowboarding or sliding down the inflatable snow tube. The ‘Polar Bear Gallery’ is one of this theme park’s highlights.

Though not a theme park, the Singapore Flyer is a place for families to spend quality time while viewing the country’s cityscape. The Flyer is the largest Ferris’ Wheel in the world standing at 541 feet.
