Moles are strange little things! These little dots on the skin are actually pretty natural phenomena. Moles occur when cells in the skin grow in a cluster instead of being spread throughout the skin. These cells are called melanocytes, and they make the pigment that gives skin its natural color.
So while moles are completely natural and for the most part, harmless, some people still prefer to remove them for aesthetic reasons. There are many ways to remove unwanted moles. There are natural ways and then surgical methods. Natural ways are obviously cheaper and more preferred because of it, however, results aren’t always guaranteed nor are they consistent. Moreover, natural and home remedies should be done with extreme caution. Since they are not vouched for by dermatologists and aestheticians, there is a chance that your skin can unexpectedly react negatively.
One method is using apple cider vinegar. This home remedy is perhaps one of the simplest. Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and place over the mole. Wrap a bandage around this and leave for an hour. Do this everyday until the mole disappears or falls off.
You can also use 5% iodine solution. Apply a drop of iodine to the mole twice a day (once in the morning and once at night) and cover with an adhesive bandage. After about a week, the mole should begin to come off. However, keep in mind that iodine is toxic in large quantities and should never be ingested.
Garlic is another home remedy for mole removal. In Singapore, garlic is much more easily sourced compared to other countries, so you can try this easily with fresh garlic. Take a clove of garlic and slice it in half.Put the half piece of garlic on the mole and leave it overnight wrapped in a bandage. Do this several days to remove the mole.
If home remedies seem sketchy for you, it’s best to have it surgically removed, by a licensed doctor. This method, while pricey, is obviously the most effective method, and you won’t have to deal with garlic, iodine or vinegar. Mole removal in Singapore is offered by several aesthetic clinics, and can be done in two ways. The first is excision with cauterization. The mole is shaved off at the level of the rest of your skin and the doctor cauterizes the skin afterward. The second method is excision with stitches. The mole is cut off under and around the skin, and stitches are used to close up the wound afterward.
Painkillers will be taken before the treatment so you need not worry about the pain factor! If you have a mole that you’ve been itching to get rid of for ages, perhaps now is the time to do so.
